Any person proposing to move into and occupy any building in the City shall file an application for an occupancy permit with the City Clerk within ten (10) days prior to the date of proposed occupancy. Any adult member of the household may file an application on behalf of persons who will live in the residence.

Sewer Lateral Program Details

The Lateral Sewer Repair Reimbursement Policy (“LSRRP”) applies to residential property containing (6) or fewer dwelling units.

A lateral sewer is defined as the portion of the sewage systems which carries household waste to the MSD or private sewer main and which lies between the house connection of the structure foundation wall, or exterior wall, to the main in the street or sewer easement.

The LSRRP does not apply to commercial, industrial, or multi-family properties with more than (6) dwelling units. It does not apply to septic fields or lift equipment.

*** Please Note: Most municipalities, cities, and counties with sewer lateral programs limit reimbursements and expenses to the amount available in the Fund at any time. Some offer waiting lists and reimbursements out of the next year’s Fund revenue. Funds typically are on a first-come, first-served basis. You should always check on fund availability.
